Toms River man placed handgun near woman’s head and fired a bullet, police allege

The following is a release from the Toms River Police Department:

On March 25th Toms River Police Detective Thomas Grosse arrested and charged Richard Dugo, age 32, with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a handgun.  

Dugo, of Bryant Avenue in Toms River, entered a neighboring home on Bryant Avenue in Toms River at 9:45 pm on March 24th armed with a handgun.  Upon arrival he confronted a woman, who is known to him, and visiting the residence.  

He then threatened her with the weapon. During the brief altercation he placed the handgun near her head and fired a bullet.  The bullet missed the woman and Dugo left the home.

Dugo is currently being held without bail in the Ocean County Jail.  He is also awaiting a court date for charges stemming from a December 23rd 2017 incident where he is alleged to have assaulted a woman with his car by dragging her as he drove away from the scene of a verbal argument in Toms River.

Assisting with the investigation are the Ocean County Sheriffs Department CSI Division and the Ocean County Prosecutors Office High Tech. Crime Unit.
