Sunny weekend ahead at the Jersey Shore
Abundant sunshine will be on tap for the Jersey Shore this weekend.
Temperatures are chilly Saturday morning but the forecast calls for highs in the upper 40s, followed by another frigid night in the lower to middle 20s.
Sunday will feature nearly identical temperature conditions. The weekend’s warmer temperatures are courtesy of the chilly airmass moving offshore.
But with a much lighter wind both days — westerly up to around 15 mph on Saturday and easing slightly out of the northwest on Sunday — it will not feel like mid-winter as it has over recent days.
Looking ahead, the National Weather Service is monitoring a potential coastal storm for Tuesday and Wednesday that could deliver heavy rain, wet snow, strong winds, and coastal flooding.
While the threat, forecasters say, “has decreased from previous forecasts,” they caution that “it is still to soon to dismiss” any potential impacts given that the circumstances can still change by Tuesday.
“The details and therefore impact remain uncertain at this time,” they conclude.
