NWS: Power outages possible Friday morning due to strong winds

A windy Friday morning is ahead, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Wind Advisory for most of the Jersey Shore.

In effect from 5 a.m. until noon for all counties except Cape May, the advisory says to expect sustained southerly winds at 10 to 20 miles per hour, gusting up to 45 miles per hour.

The service says the strongest winds should occur between 7 a.m. and noon.

“Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected,” according to the advisory.

Shore residents should secure lightweight outdoor objects, such as patio furniture and garbage cans, and take care operating high-profile vehicles.

Periods of rain and possibly a thunderstorm are on tap for Friday, tapering off by Saturday morning.
