Beach replenishment update: Summer work in Brick, Toms River, Seaside Park

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has updated the beach replenishment/dune construction schedule for northern Ocean County. Work will occur in 1,000-foot-wide sections of beaches at a time (the remainder of beach areas will be open). Dunes will be built 22 feet above mean sea level. Beaches will be constructed from 100 feet to 300 feet wide and 8.5 feet above mean sea level.

Here’s the latest:

Point Pleasant Beach: Construction follows Lavallette. Current construction estimate is late December to late January of 2019.The plan is to make the pipe landing at Elizabeth and Carter Avenues and first pump to the South then flip and pump North. Work to extend the Sea Avenue ocean outfall will be ongoing from June to September. Access via Maryland Ave will be modified to allow limited equipment access. Pedestrian access will be maintained. Point Beaches are open except within fenced construction area.

Bay Head: Construction follows Toms River North. Current construction estimate is late September through December. The plan is to make the pipe landing near Mount Street and first pump North, then flip and pump South.

Mantoloking Northern Area (stretches from Sta. 207 – approx. 2000 ft. north of Herbert St. – to Sta. 162 -municipal boundary with Bay Head):┬áConstruction follows Brick. Current construction estimate is late-August through early October. The plan is to make the pipe landing near Lyman Street and first pump South, then flip and pump North.

Mantoloking: Construction complete in base contract area.

Brick Township: Construction began in April and is estimated to last through late-August. The pipe landing was made near Bel Air Road. Pumping will proceed South first, then flip and pump North.

Birchler

Toms River North: Construction estimate is late July through late September. The plan is to make the pipe landing between East Pompano Way and E Sandpiper Way and first pump North, then flip and pump South.

Lavallette: Construction follows Mantoloking option areas. Current construction estimate is early October through late December. Plan is to make the pipe landing near Magee Avenue and first pump North, then flip and pump South.

Toms River South (Ortley Beach): Estimated construction is on/around June 23 through early October.The pipe landing has been made just north of Herring Ave. From there, contractor will pump North into Ortley.

Seaside Heights: Construction follows Ortley Beach. Current construction estimate is early October through December. The pipe landing will remain at north of Herring Ave. Pipe will be flipped, then pumped South through Seaside Heights.

Seaside Park: Estimated construction is early August through mid-October.The plan is to make the pipe landing near 5th Ave and first pump North, then flip and pump South.

Berkeley Township: Construction follows Seaside Park. Current construction estimate is mid-October through November.
